Your Croatian adventure begins in the vibrant city of Zagreb. Upon arrival, you’ll have the opportunity to settle into your accommodation and prepare for the exciting journey that lies ahead. The anticipation builds as you look forward to the stunning landscapes and tranquil wilderness that await you in the coming days.
The real adventure begins as your guide picks you up from your accommodation and drives you to the National Park North Velebit. Here, you’ll start your hike on the famous Premuzic Trail, making your way from Zavizan to Alan Hut. If you’re up for it, you can opt to climb Gromovaca peak, where breathtaking views reward your efforts. As the day winds down, you’ll enjoy a typical mountain meal while the Mediterranean sun sets, painting the sky in hues of gold.
Wake up to a homemade breakfast before continuing your hike through the wild pastures and flowery meadows of the Velebit Mountain range. Your destination for the day is Skorpovac Shelter, a cosy unmanned refuge nestled in the heart of the mountains. Here, you’ll have the choice to sleep inside the shelter or camp outside in the meadow under a blanket of stars. A delicious meal prepared by your guide will be the perfect end to your day.
After breakfast, you’ll embark on the last leg of your unforgettable adventure. Today’s hike takes you through dense forests and wild pastures, culminating in the charming mountain village of Baske Ostarije. Here, you can soak in the silence and fresh mountain air at your hostel, or take a short drive to the coastal town of Karlobag for a refreshing swim in the sea and relaxation on the beach.
On your final day, you’ll enjoy a delicious breakfast in a local restaurant before your guide drives you back to Zagreb or to your next destination. As you say goodbye to the beautiful landscapes and the memories you’ve made, you’ll carry with you the spirit of the Croatian mountains and the tranquillity of the Adriatic.

Description
Are you ready for an unforgettable journey through the serene landscapes of Croatia? Our Hut to Hut Hiking tour offers you the unique opportunity to explore the tranquil wilderness of the Velebit Mountain range.
The wilderness of Northern Velebit, coupled with the panoramic views of the Adriatic, makes this experience characteristically different from other hut-to-hut hiking in other countries.
You’ll be hiking on the Premuzic Trail, a masterpiece crafted by forestry engineer and mountaineer Ante Premuzic, as it winds its way across the rugged terrain of the Velebit mountain range.
This 57-kilometre-long trail, constructed using the drystone technique, has endured harsh weather and wear and tear for more than 90 years. It’s a testament to craftsmanship and endurance, offering one of the best ways to explore the Velebit region.
But this adventure is not just about hiking — it’s about immersing yourself in an authentic way of hiking in the Croatian mountains. You’ll sleep in traditional mountain huts, one even one-manned, adding to the authenticity of the trip.
We’ve taken care of everything to make your journey hassle-free. You’ll be accompanied by a local, English-speaking guide who knows these mountains like the back of their hand. We handle all transfers to the starting point and back after the hike, and there will be vehicle support throughout the hike in case something happens.
